The Yadkin County Farm Bureau presented its 2012 annual awards in December 2012.

The following individuals were honored by the Farm Bureau for their outstanding dedication to agriculture.

County Manager Aaron Church was recognized by Yadkin County Farm Bureau President Justin Somers with the Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award. Church was applauded for his recent work on a county agricultural center, and representing Yadkin County agriculture in positive way while writing applications to the Gold Leaf Foundation and the NC Tobacco Trust Fund.

The Distinguished Service Award is awarded to a resident or non-resident of Yadkin County. For a non-resident to be considered, his or her “work” will have to impacted Yadkin County agriculture/farming in a positive way. It most cases the individual may not be actively involved in the production of agriculture himself of herself. However, through their efforts they have had a positive effect on the agriculture industry and Yadkin County specifically. Individuals involved in production agriculture or agribusiness can be considered.

Leneul Chamberlain was recognized by Yadkin County Farm Bureau President Justin Somers with the Excellence in Agriculture Award. Chamberlain was recognized in part to his dedication to agriculture and spreading the word to all the importance agriculture plays in the lives of each individual. Chamberlain opens his farm and his Lone Hickory Arena to numerous children annually.

The Excellence in Agriculture Award is awarded to a farmer, full time or part time, traditional or non-traditional operation, or someone involved in agribusiness. The recipient must live in Yadkin County. The candidate goes above and beyond in the promotion of farming and agriculture and the impact it plays on every individual’s daily lives and routines. There will be one awarded each year at the County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting.

Jonesville Insurance Agent James Doll was recognized by Yadkin County Farm Bureau President Justin Somers with the Service Excellence Award. Doll was recognized in part for his over 20 years with Farm Bureau, excellent customer service and understanding of “One Farm Bureau… One Mission,” including county Farm Bureau activities, state Farm Bureau activities and excelling in his position with the NC Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company.

The Service Award is awarded to an agent, associate agent or CSR that best understands and promotes the total Farm Bureau Package. There will be one awarded each year at the County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting.

Yadkin County Farm Bureau Past Presidents Jack F. Shore and Bobby J. Matthews Jr. were recognized by Yadkin County Farm Bureau President Justin Somers for their years of service to the organization. Shore served as president from 1987-2004 and Matthews served as president from 2005-2009. Both continue to serve on the Yadkin County Farm Bureau board of directors. Shore is also a member of the NC Farm Bureau board of directors.
