ELKIN - Mother Nature has postponed tonight’s championship action.
The Mountain Valley Conference baseball tournament championship game between top-seeded Wilkes Central and No. 2 Forbush has been pushed back. The make-up date is tentatively slated for tomorrow night at North Wilkes High School, weather permitting, according to North Wilkes head baseball coach David Gregory and The Patriot.
Accordingly, the MVAC final in the softball tournament between regular-season champion West Wilkes and No. 2 East Wilkes has also been postponed. The game will be made up tomorrow night at Ashe County High School, weather permitting, according to Ashe County Athletic Director Marc Payne and The Patriot.
Payne added that if the game is not played tomorrow night, it will not be made up.
State playoffs for both sports begins Friday.
