Residents ready to Race for the Cure

Editor’s Note: The following is the third in a series of articles about breast cancer awareness and the impact of the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation in the local community.WINSTON-SALEM — Residents from Yadkin County and the surrounding area are gearing up for the annual Race of the Cure 5K fundraiser hosted by Susan G. Komen of Northwest North Carolina, scheduled for Sept. 27. The event is the major fundraising event for the organization and funds grants that benefit local organizations like the Yadkin County Health Department.Not only does the event raise money for cancer programming in the area, but it is also a celebration of survivors and a time to honor those who lost their battle with breast cancer.
