EAST BEND — The East Bend Church Softball League is winding down its season. With only three weeks left in the regular season, things are heating up on the diamond. Below are the results for the June 16 and June 20 games.
Union Cross vs. Forbush (co-ed) — Union Cross beat Forbush by a score of 16-2 on Thursday night. Union Cross jumped on Forbush early as they scored three runs in the first inning, then added four in the third inning and four in the fifth inning. Forbush ended their night with two runs, one scored in the first inning and the last run scored in the fifth inning.
Solid Rock vs. Richmond Hill (Men)— Solid Rock dominated Richmond Hill 19-4 on Thursday night. Solid Rock took an early 5-0 lead through the first two innings before Richmond Hill were able to score a run. In the third inning, Richmond Hill finally got on the board as they scored four runs. Solid Rock answered back in the third inning as they batted around and scored eight runs to make the score 13-4. Solid Rock closed out the game in the fifth inning as they scored six additional runs to bring the mercy rule into effect and end the game with a 19-4 win.
Bear Creek vs. Church of Christ (Men) — Bear Creek took home a 16-14 win over Church of Christ for the last game of the night on Thursday. Bear Creek came out strong as they scored 12 runs in the first inning to put Church of Christ in a bind. Church of Christ came up in the sixth inning being down four runs. They scored two runs, but failed to bring their runners around the bases. Bear Creek came away with a 16-14 win.
East Bend United vs. Enon (co-ed) — East Bend United came away with a win over Enon on Monday night. Mason, Henry, and Mark each batted three times, and scored all three times while Amanda, Jack, Shannon, and Aaron each added a run. After five innings, the mercy rule was put in effect and EB United won 17-8
Church of Christ vs. Union Cross (co-ed) — Union Cross found a win over Church of Christ on Monday. The second inning was the money maker for both teams as Union Cross scored four runs, while Church of Christ scored five runs. In the fourth inning, Union Cross added six runs to make the score 13-10. Church of Christ couldn’t find the runs they needed and fell 17-10.
East Bend United vs. Enon (Men) — Enon dominated EB United with a 14-3 on Monday night. For three innings the game looked even, until Enon turned on the jets and scored eight runs in the fourth inning. Gary lead things off with a single, then Craig came up with a double. Jeff, Jamie, Robert, Will, Josh, and Tim all crossed home-plate to put the mercy rule in effect and give Enon a 14-3 win.
