The Yadkin YMCA and other sponsors will be holding the Go Far 5k on Nov. 20. Both a 5k and 1-mile fun run will be held. The 1-mile fun run will begin at 9 a.m. and the 5k will begin at 9:30 a.m. An awards ceremony will be held after the races at 10:30 a.m. There will be an after race party which will include vendors, food, bounce houses, a car seat check and other activities. The race will be held at the Yadkin Valley Community Hospital.
Entries after Nov. 1 are $25. Registration for the 1-mile fun run is $5. T-shirts are only guaranteed to those who complete early registration and compete in the 5k. Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot
Elkin Recreation and Parks will be holding a Free Throw shooting contest on 5-6 p.m. Nov. 22 at the Recreation Center. Winners in each age group will receive a basketball. Competition ranges from six-year olds to adults. Registration is Free.
Fourth Annual D-rex Pharmacy Ramboree
The Starmount Rams will be hosting the fourth annual D-rex Ramboree on Nov. 13. with 12 schools participating. Games will be played from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at both Starmount High School and Middle Schoool. All-day passes are $5. Schools participating are: Mount Airy, Elkin, East Burke, North Iredell, Alleghany, North Stokes, Ragsdale, Northern Guilford, Davie, Asheboro, Southwestern Randolph, and Starmount.
