Changes are coming to the Yadkin County Animal Shelter by way of new adoption bundles, a new volunteer program and a new director. The Animal Shelter is hosting an Open House and Adoption Fair from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 21.

The adoption bundles include age-appropriate vaccinations and spay/neuter; the cost for dogs is $100; cats $85.

The volunteer program is for youth and adults and jobs include walking dogs, helping with animal adoptions and other tasks. Come to the Open House and learn how you can be a part of improving the lives and stray cats and dogs in Yadkin County.

Anna Hamby is the new director at the Animal Shelter, effective May 16. Ms. Hamby has recently served as Coordinator of Healthy Yadkin in the Health Department and has previous experience working with veterinary and equine clinics. The Yadkin Animal Shelter is located on Speaks Road behind the Town Community Park. For more information, call 336-677-2500.

Contact Anna Hamby at 336-677-2501 or ahamby@yadkincountync.gov.
