The Yadkin County budget has been prepared and ready for proposal to the Yadkin County Commissioners for their approval. The budget amount is $34,740,526. which is a six percent decrease from the last fiscal year’s adopted budget.
The budget will maintain the current $.74 per $100 of valuation for property.
The budget represents a $7,395,737 decrease from the last four fiscal years’ adopted budgets.
The budget includes a use of $34,116. from the general fund balance to balance the proposed budget. The fund balance appropriation is a 98.4 percent decrease from last year’s adopted appropriation of $2,148,643.
“The Board of Commissioners has held fast on last year’s hiring freeze and should be commended. This alone has enabled Administration to balance the budge without raiding the fund balance, (the public’s savings account); placing county employees in the unemployment line; furloughing employees and reducing employees’ pay,” Aaron Church Yadkin County Manager said.
“The full budget is available to anyone for viewing,” Church said. “It’s on the website and copies are available at the county office as well.”
A special meeting and public hearing has been set for the proposed FY11 - 12 budget at 6 p.m. on May 31 in the commissioners’ meeting room in the Yadkin County Human Resources building, 217 E. Willow St. During this meeting the Board of Commissioners will consider adopting the proposed budget.
