The Elkin Recreation Center will be holding swim lessons through three different sessions this summer. Participants will advance through three skill levels at their own pace, based upon the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program.
Each session will last Monday-Friday for two weeks. The second summer session will be from July 5-15, and the third will be held from July 25-Aug. 5. The cost will be $25 for Elkin residents and $45 for non-residents. Forms are available for registration at the Elkin Recreation Center.
Myers Junior Open Tennis Tournament
The Myers Junior Open Tennis Tournament will be held Aug. 5-7 in the Elkin Municipal Park. Registration is ongoing until July 31. Participants must be a USTA member and should register at www.usta.com The cost is $31.
Summer Tennis Lessons
Elkin Recreation and Parks will be offering two separate sessions of tennis lessons during the month of July. The first session will begin on July 26 and conclude on July 29. The lessons will last from 9:30-10:30 a.m. each day. The second session will begin on Aug. 2 and conclude Aug. 5. The cost is $15 for Elkin city residents and $30 for non-residents. Forbush Middle School Basketball Camp
Forbush Middle School will be holding a basketball camp for boys and girls in grades 6th-8th from 9 a.m. – noon from Aug. 1-3. The camp will be conducted by Coach Steve Gardner and Coach Thom Summey.
The cost is $40 per camper. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. on the first day of camp.

Sign-ups for Upward Flag Football and Cheerleading
Sign-ups for Upward Flag Football and Cheerleading in Elkin have begun.
The final day to sign up is July 15. Boys and girls who will be in grades first-sixth this coming school year are eligible. Football is open to boys and girls. The program is sponsored by Elkin Valley Baptist Church.
The registration cost is $35 if you sign up by July 1. The cost is $45 after July 1. Optional flag football shorts or cheerleading mock turtlenecks can be purchased for an additional $12.
Every prospective player or cheerleader must attend one of the evaluation sessions. Those will be held at the field on North Elkin Drive from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 11, Tuesday, July 12 and Thursday, July 14.

Mighty-Mite Football to join Sertoma Football League
The Mighty-Mite football program will be joining the Sertoma league this season. They will play under the Jr. Pee-Wee, Pee-Wee, and middle school games. The Mighty-Mite players will be for the first and second grade kids.
Starmount Football Camp
Starmount will be hosting its annual youth football camps for K-sixth graders from July 25-26. The seventh and eighth graders camp will be held from July 28-29. The cost for both camps will be $10 and each camper will receive a door prize. The camp will be held on the practice field, to the left of the school, from 6-8 p.m. each evening.
