Mary Lois Mahaffey, age 72, of Couch Road, Elkin, passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin.
Mrs. Mahaffey was born in Surry County on Oct. 14, 1936 to the late William Paul Smith Jr. and Mary Pearl Isaacs Smith.
She was retired from Yadkin Medical Associates and was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Talbert; late husband, Doug Mahaffey; and a brother, Jack Smith.
She is survived by a son, Taylor Talbert of the home; a brother, Bill Smith and wife Ann of Elkin; and several loving nieces and nephews.
The Mahaffey family received friends Saturday, Jan. 10 at Johnson Funeral Home.
A funeral service was held Sunday, Jan. 11 at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Johnny Blevins. Burial followed at Elkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
Johnson Funeral Home of Elkin served the Mahaffey Family.
