Mildred Riddle Johnson of East Bend, a virtuous woman, as described in Proverbs 31, went home to be with her Lord on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2011. She was 88.

She was born April 10, 1923, in Wilkes County to the late Iredell Talmedge and Viola Jane Campbell Riddle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Glenn Johnson; daughter, Tina Viola Johnson; two sisters; seven brothers.

Surviving are her children, Steve Johnson and wife Linda, Roger Johnson and wife Donna, Tempi Cannova; grandchildren, Zach, Natalie, Josh, Blake, Brock, Chase, Angel; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Riddle Brewer of North Wilkesboro and Malinda Riddle of Lewisville.

Her funeral service was held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at Bethel Branch Church of Christ, 4735 Elkin Hwy 268, North Wilkesboro, with Lawrence Warden, Steve McCollum and Gary Riddle officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at Bethel Branch Church of Christ.
