EAST BEND - The winless Lady Falcons look to pick up their first win of the year when they return to play this week against two conference rivals.
Coming off two more tough losses last week to East Wilkes and Ashe County, Forbush now sits in last place at 0-2 in Mountain Valley Conference play and 0-3 on the season.
Against the Lady Cards, Forbush had no answer for senior power forward Samantha Adams who powered her way to a career-high 35 points as East held on for the 52-48 victory.
The Lady Falcons managed to cut the lead to four under a minute to play in regulation, but Adams and the Cards were able to knock down crucial free throws to ice the game.
Last Friday night, Forbush dropped another close decision to Ashe County, 53-45, to stay winless.
The Lady Falcons hope to turn their fortunes around Tuesday night against a solid North Wilkes club.
The Lady Vikings are one of the two remaining undefeated sqauds in the conference at 2-0, and are coming off a 45-40 victory over East Wilkes where they were able to shut down Adams and Co.
The schedule doesn’t get easier for Forbush as their next matchup is against the current third-place team in the MVAC in West Wilkes.
The Lady ‘Hawks are 3-1 on the year and 1-1 in conference with their only loss coming against a virtually unbeatable Wilkes Central squad.
