June Abbott, coordinator for the USMC Toys for Tots program in Yadkin County, announced recently that, together with Huff Funeral Home, the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program expanded from Surry to Yadkin County with a message of hope for underprivileged children in the area.

Each year the Marine Corps Reserve enlists local businesses to aid in their efforts to bring a smile to needy children at Christmas time.

“The staff of Huff Funeral Home was glad to be able to do our part and give back to the community of Yadkin County,” said Joe Clay, manager of Huffs.

Neil Breed, co-coordinator for Yadkin and Surry County Toys for Tots and community outreach coordinator with Huff Funeral Home, mentioned that the funeral home became involved as way of giving back to those less fortunate during the holiday season through their ongoing community outreach program.

Breed and Abbott mentioned that this year was a good start for Yadkin County with 15 families served and hope to double or triple that number for the 2012 season.

Breed also mentioned that Dollar General in East Bend played a big role in helping this year and would like to thank them for their support.
