Yadkinville – Mildred Comer Wood, 72, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born March 11, 1939 in Yadkin County to the late Luther and Sally Loy Comer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John Comer and Vernon Comer. Surviving are the father of her children, Donald “Punk” Wood, Sr.; children, Diane (Trish) Wood, Susan (Roger) Snow, Patricia Wood, Donald “Donnie” Wood, Jr.; granddaughter, Brittany Snow; brother, James “Toby” Comer; several nieces, nephews, and other family members. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank her Home Health caregivers, Yadkin Nursing Care Center, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for all the love and care shown to Mildred. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Kate B.
