Opening Friday, March 9th in the Welborn Gallery-

Hand-Crafted: The Art of Furniture Making opens March 9 at 5:30 pm with a reception for the artists and includes a chair making demonstration by Lyle Wheeler at the Welborn Gallery of the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center located at 226 E. Main Street in downtown Yadkinville. Exhibiting artists Lyle Wheeler of Millers Creek, David Hicks and Matthew Comer of Union Grove, Fred Holland and Michael Jones of Lewisville hand craft their pieces from local hardwood without the use of machines, creating furniture of incredible beauty, originality and practicality. The exhibit showcases ladder back and post and rung chairs, rocking chairs, benches, tables, and one of a kind ‘structures’ of whimsy. The public is invited to come see what is hanging from the gallery walls and adorning the gallery’s barnwood floors! The exhibit runs from March 9 through April 28th. Info: www.yadkinarts.org. Stop in at YARD Gifts in Studio F to find that special handmade gift for someone special in your life. All items are made by artist members of the Yadkin Arts Council. Fused glass jewelry, knitted wear, small paintings, mosaic pieces, woodworking, hand-dyed scarves…and so much more! Shop in your own backYARD! Hours: noon to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

Yoga for Beginners

Yoga for Beginners takes place every Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. Weekly drop-in classes are $5 each. Joanna Humphrey instructs the classes, which are located a t Classroom 3 at YCAC.

Welborn Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Third Branch Cafe has a Dinner Special and Live Music every Friday night. Cafe hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
