Solomon “Sam” Wesley Wall, 88, of Yadkinville, husband of Magdelene Shore Wall passed into his eternal rest Saturday April 21, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Born June 5, 1923, in Rockford, NC, he was the son of Early Lincoln Wall and Gail Vestal Wall. He was an avid quail hunter and fisherman and enjoyed vegetable gardening and raising Brittany Spaniels. He especially loved traveling with Magdelene from the mountains to the coast and visiting his children and grandchildren. He retired after more than 30 years with Hanes Hosiery in Winston-Salem. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and served in several capacities including deacon and was a member of the men’s bible class. He was a wonderful and loving husband and father.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by three brothers, Hoover Wall, Gilbert Wall, and Nelson Wall; and one sister, Cleo Bryant.
Sam leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years, Magdelene Shore Wall of Yadkinville; two sons, Harold Gray (Carol) Wall of Courtney and Rondal J. (Sheri) Wall of Manning, SC; a sister, Estelle Turner of Hamptonville; grandchildren, Sharon (Tim) Hawkins, David Wesley (Julie) Wall, all of Courtney, Matthew Jay (Amanda) Wall, and Parker Wall (Michael) Johnson, all of Manning, SC; great grandchildren, Cory Hawkins, Caleb Hawkins, both of Courtney, Ryder Jay Wall and Fischer James Wall, both of Manning, SC and Michael Allen Johnson III of Manning, SC.
He was loved dearly and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
The family will receive friends, Monday, April 23, 2012, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Yadkinville.
Pallbearers will be David Wall, Jay Wall, Tim Hawkins, Michael Johnson, Hurley Johnson, and Paul Swain.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jerry Ziglar and the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center for the loving care they gave to Sam over the last two years. They would also like to thank Dr. Amy Baruch and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of Forsyth Medical Center for their kindness and compassion during Sam’s brief illness.
