The Jonesville Police Department attempted to stop a 1999 Ford Explorer on N.C.. 67 in Jonesville Sunday evening, when the license tag came back stolen. The driver accelerated to avoid capture and officers continued pursuit.
Officers maintained visual contact with the vehicle until the suspect attempted to turn onto Waterwheel Road, lost control and crashed.
Jonathon Steven Pardue, 27, of Ronda was arrested and charged with speeding, speeding to elude arrest, reckless driving to endanger and larceny of a motor vehicle.
Detectives at the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Department are investigating and Pardue may be considered as a person of interest in an attempted armed robbery at the Neighbor’s Convenience Store in West End Elkin.
No charges have been filed and officers stated simply that the investigation is ongoing.
Pardue is incarcerated in the Yadkin County Jail under a $52,000 bond.
Pardue has a lengthy history of charges with the North Carolina Department of Corrections including breaking and entering, and larceny.
Major Widener of the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office stated it was probable that Pardue would face his first appearance on Jan. 28.
