Guilford College junior Rhett Bonner of Yadkinville received the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Men's Basketball Player of the Week Award for the week ending Jan. 31.
A 6-0, 170-pound guard, Bonner averaged a team-best 22.0 points per game in the Quakers’ home wins over the ODAC's top-two teams. He also averaged 4.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game and sank 19-of-21 free-throw attempts.
Bonner led all scorers in the Quakers' Jan. 28 victory over Roanoke College, totalling 21 points, five assists and two steals. He was a perfect six-for-six from the free-throw line in the second half and helped Guilford past the ODAC's second-place team.
Bonner had a career night in the Quakers' Jan. 31 win over league-leading Randolph-Macon College where he notched a personal-best 23 points, plus five rebounds and six assists. His team-high 13 points in the second half helped Guilford overcome a seven-point deficit and his two free throws with 1:24 left gave the Quakers the lead for good.
Bonner stands third in the ODAC in three-pointers per game (2.74) and three-point field-goal percentage (.441). Bonner averages 15.4 points per game.
