Kathyrn Elizabeth “Katy” Hamel graduated magna cum laude from East Carolina University on May 4 with a bachelor of science in nursing. At the College of Nursing’s Pinning Ceremony, Katy was recognized as a North Carolina Nurse Scholar. During her time at ECU, Katy was actively involved with HOSA. She served on the Executive Council as treasurer, secretary and historian. Between Katy’s junior and senior year, she worked as a nursing extern at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in the Emergency Department.
