“Movie Mondays” will be held on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 1:00 pm showing “Gnomeo and Juliet,” rated G and with a running time of 84 minutes. Gnomeo & Juliet is a fresh and funny makeover of one of the world’s most timeless stories, featuring music from Sir Elton John. Caught up in a feud between neighbors, Gnomeo and Juliet must overcome as many obstacles as their namesakes, but with flamboyant pink flamingos and epic lawnmower races, can this young couple find lasting happiness? This film is an out-of-the-ordinary animated comedy that your entire family will love!

As a reminder, there will be no Summer Reading Program on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, due to the holiday. Summer Reading Programs for all ages will resume on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm, featuring String Celebration, performing “Read for Your Life!” a literacy program using a blend of musical storytelling and humor. String Celebration will engage your children and inspire them to read books about interesting things such as dinosaurs and insects and what they can be when they grow up. All programs are free of charge and run approximately 45-60 minutes in length. For questions or additional information, please stop by the Yadkin County Public Library.

Looking for books for your summer reading enjoyment? The library is a great place to stock up on some affordable fiction and nonfiction finds. Take time to stop by the library and check out the sale items in the front entryway. As always, the library accepts book donations with the exception of encyclopedias. A charitable donation receipt is given upon request.

Yadkin Christian Ministries is in need of pantry items to restock their shelves. Items most needed are laundry detergent, dish detergent, dried beans, crackers, cookies, cereals, flour, sugar, personal hygiene products and paper products. If you have items you would like to donate, stop by the Yadkin County Public Library and drop them in the Yadkin Christian Ministries box. A donation box will be available at the library until the end of July.
