“Justice Richmond Pearson and the Trials of Tom Dooley” will be presented by Wilkesboro Attorney Greg Luck and the Yadkin County Historical Society on Saturday, July 21, at 3 p.m. at historic Richmond Hill, 4641 Law School Road, East Bend.

Richmond Hill is the restored home of former North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Richmond Pearson and his family.

Justice Pearson presided at both trials of Tom Dooley in Statesville, NC, where a jury convicted him of killing Laura Foster. In 1866 he was hanged for the crime.

Following the presentation, the Yadkin County Historical Society will sponsor its Annual Picnic in the first covered shelter on the left. It will be covered dish, with utensils and beverages furnished by the society.

The program is free and open to the public.
