Mr. Charlie Benbow Jester, 90, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 19, 1922 in Forsyth County to Bessie Hutchins Jester and Ernest Martin Jester.

Mr. Jester served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He served the Lord for many years by teaching Sunday School and leading the choir in numerous churches.

Mr. Jester was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Mae White Jester; one grandson, Michael Jester; three brothers, Graham, Harding and Martin Jester and one sister, Mary Jester. Surviving are one daughter, Sheree Berckmans of Chapel Hill; two sons, Charlie Jester, Jr. (Jane) of Winston-Salem and Ernest Alvin Jester (Pat) of Winston-Salem; his companion, Lucille Reich of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Darrell Jester, Marlee Berckmans, Katelijn Berckmans and Chris Jester; three great grandchildren and two sisters, Vera Call of Winston-Salem and Peggy Pinnix of Yadkinville.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Bill Chatman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
