Mary Ellen Sheek, 55, died October 25, 2012, at Hospice in Winston-Salem after battling cancer. She was born in Yadkin County but had been living in Pageland, S.C. for several years.
Her father, Henry Gray Sheek, and her brother, David Sheek, preceded her in death. Surviving are her mother, Margaret Shore Sheek, two sisters, Christine S. Barrow (Jimmy) and Betty S. Lewis (Gary), all of Kernersville, and her uncle, Arthur Sheek (Sue) of Jamestown. Her immediate and extended families will always remember Mary Ellen’s giving heart and her love of all animals. At her request there will be no service. Instead, she wished to be donated for research and training to help others who will be diagnosed with cancer. The family requests that any memorials be forwarded to a Hospice of choice or to AARF.
