BOONVILLE - It has been quite a season for Starmount soccer standout Chandler Chappell.

After powering the Rams into the 2A playoffs with a team-high 21 goals and 14 assists on the year, Chappell has begun raking in the awards.

The senior was one of four players from Starmount to earn All-Mountain Valley Conference honors last month before being named to the 2A All-Region 10 squad by the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association with teammates Jonathan Catalan and Jacob Shores.

Chappell capped off the postseason awards with an All-State selection, becoming the only area player (from the MVAC and the Northwest Conference) to earn the state’s highest honor.

Chappell, who ranks first in school history with 78 goals and 48 assists, signed his official letter with UNC Greensboro last month. The senior, a four-year varsity starter for the Rams, will graduate from Starmount early in order to enroll at Greensboro in time for the spring semester and begin training with the Spartans.

In addition to playing at Starmount, Chappell suited up for the Yadkin Stars, the Greensboro Fusion and Twin City Soccer in Winston-Salem.
