Hamptonville man charged with stealing relative’s guns

On Jan. 9 the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jason Scott Brown, 37, of Hamptonville on charges of larceny of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office reported that on Dec. 10, 2012, they received a report of a larceny of firearms from the victim’s residence who is a family member of the suspect. After further investigation by detectives it was discovered that the suspect entered the residence of the family member and took three firearms while the victim was away from the home.

Detectives reported that the suspect sold the firearms at a pawn shop in Elkin but the firearms were recovered by detectives.

Brown was charged with three counts of larceny of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently being held in the Yadkin County Jail under a $15,000 secured bond.
