Greg Cheek will present a program on the Bond School House Affair, Sunday, February 10, 2013, 2:30 pm, at Deep Creek Friends Meeting, 1140 Deep Creek Church Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
This Civil War event occurred 150 years ago, when local Confederate militia tried to arrest Union sympathizers hiding in the log schoolhouse and force them to serve in the Southern Army. Gunfire followed and four men were killed, two on each side. The program will focus on what happened that winter day, with some recently discovered historical documents related to the affair.
The Yadkin County Historical Society, Yadkin Gray Eagles - Sons of Confederate Veterans, and Deep Creek Friends Meeting will sponsor this program, which is free and open to the public.
