The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office reported that a student missing since the early morning hours of Monday, March 23, was located and returned to Yadkin County safely.
Jeffery Charles Behr was reported missing from his group home in Jonesville when staff went to wake him for school. It is believed he may have the left the home through a window.
He was seen at Hanes Mall by a friend on March 24. Law enforcement expected him to try and reach a former residence in either Greensboro or Rowan County.
A Silver Alert was issued and officials believe this was instrumental in locating Behr and in his safe return. The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons is notified when an alert of this nature is issued.
Behr was located in Greensboro and officials say he was glad to be going back home.
A Silver Alert is issued when an individual over the age of 18 who suffers from dementia or cognitive impairment is reported missing, regardless of circumstances.
