Miss Bonnie Jean Draughn, 59, of Courtney-Huntsville Road in Yadkinville, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Willowbrook Rehabilitation and Care Center.
She was born Oct. 12, 1949 in Surry County to Tom Bill and Forrest Inez Ashburn Draughn.
Miss Draughn was a graduate of Forbush High School, and Draughns Business College in Winston-Salem.
She was a faithful and active member of Turners Creek Baptist Church, and worked as a CNA at Willowbrook Rehabilitation and Care Center and Yadkin Nursing Care Center for over 23 years.
She was preceded in death by her father; maternal grandparents, Harrison and Mary Johnson Ashburn; paternal grandparents, Gene and Bertie Draughn; special aunts, Dorothy Childress, Alma A. Lambert, and Louise Pruitt; and an uncle, Everette (Teb) Ashburn.
Surviving are her beloved mother, Forrest A. “Tossie” Draughn of the home; and several close cousins.
The family received friends on Wednesday, April 8 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today, April 9, in the Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Allen Barker, the Rev. Bobby Russell, and her cousin, J.R. Childress.
Burial will follow in Yadkin Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to express their appreciation to all of her special friends, neighbors, and co-workers, including, Hattie Royall, Janie Royall, Gloria Jenkins, and Pat Poindexter, for all the loving care and support given to Bonnie during her sickness.
