The halls of the Yadkinville Elementary School in downtown Yadkinville will once again ring with the string sounds of bluegrass and the tight harmonies of mountain singers as the 24th Annual Bluegrass Convention — formerly known as the Yadkinville Bluegrass Contest and Fiddlers’ Convention — gets under way on Saturday, April 18th at 5 p.m.

Presented by the Yadkin Arts Council, this popular regional southeast bluegrass event awards prizes totaling $2500 to the top five bands, top three vocal groups and top three individual artists.

There is no age limit on entries and registration begins at 3 p.m. Popular Master of Ceremonies Harold Mitchell from Galax, Va. returns to emcee the convention.

Admission cost is $10 for adults; children 10 and under are admitted free. Concessions are offered by the Yadkinville Rotary Club.
