He was born July 16, 1929 in Yadkin County to the late Rev. John Glenn and Sallie Bet Hoots Allgood.
Mr. Allgood was retired, with over 30 years of service in 1980, from AT&T, as a commercial artist.
He then retired, in 2003, from Hecht’s Department Store.
He was an active and faithful member of Deep Creek Baptist Church, and served the church in various offices, including Chairman of the Building Committee for the current sanctuary in 1970, which he personally designed; served many years as a Deacon; was on the finance committee; and sang in the church choir.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Shermer and her husband, Page; brothers, Clarence Allgood and wife, Myrtle, Fred Allgood and wife, Marjorie, and James Allgood; his sister-in-law, Doris Allgood; and his brother-in-law, Harold Caudle.
Surviving are his loving wife, Wilma H. Allgood, of the home; a son, Jason Anthony Allgood of Yadkinville; a sister, Sally Caudle; brother, Edsel Allgood; sister-in-law, Peggy Allgood; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 7 at Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Michael Faircloth.
The family received friends immediately following the graveside service in the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Deep Creek Baptist Church, 2400 Old Stage Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Forsyth Medical Center I.C.U. and Palliative Care Units, including Dr. Jim Crozier and Dr. French, for all the loving care given.
