Prospective employees began lining up outside the Yadkin campus of Surry Community College shortly after 6 a.m. on Friday.

According to Yadkinville Police Chief Tim Parks, though there was an enormous amount of traffic, people were polite and there were no major issues.

Cars were parked along-side Hwy. 601 from the Yadkin Campus of Surry Community College, on both sides of the road for at least a mile in each directon.

The job fair, which was schedule to begin at 9 a.m., began at 8 a.m. when organizers agreed to go ahead and open the doors because of the line of people outside.

“We were very excitedabaout the turnout at the job fair. said Eddie Norman, of Nonnie’s “We were amazed at the quality of the applicants.”

All of the applicants were no unemployed. According to Norman, many are employed and seeking to better themselves.

Norman continued by saying that Yadkin County has provided an opportunity for this company to excel here. Nonni’s is very pleased with their decision to come to Yadkinville.

“The quality of the work-force is one of the deciding factors to relocate to the Yadkin area,” he said.

More than 1400 applications were received and are being reviewed.

Nonni’s plans to begin the process of interviewing applicants, possiblyas early as late May.

They hope to begin hiring in early June.
