Staff report

On Thursday, May 21, the Yadkinville Downtown Business Association, and Yadkinville BB&T, presented the Yadkinville Public Library with three new Dell computers for the children’s department.

This event was held to raise awareness of the need , and to encourage local businesses to consider donating new or gently used computers.  The need is great at the library for more computers. The average number of adult users are 75 - 85 per day. There are only 15 computers available, to the adults and most of them are old and outdated.

“The children were excited about the new computers and had no trouble navigating to their favorite NC library and PBS websites,” said Debbie Sharp, president of TechGnome Productions & A/V Services, Inc..

The donations were given after Malinda Sells, Library Director, and a member of the DBA, informed the members of the DBA of the need for computers for the children’s department. The DBA immediately, unanimously voted to provide two systems. Deborah Pyles with BB&T then offered to purchase an additional system.

Approximately 25 people attended the event.
