Roger Dale Mullis, 58, of Cranberry Ridge, Roaring River, died May 10, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. 

He was born Dec. 8, 1950 in Rockingham County to Benjamin Kimbol and Lillie Mae Tulbert Mullis. 

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. 

He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam era.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lois Medvetz and Mildred Caudle; and two brothers, Edward Mullis and Ben Mullis.

 Survivors include his wife of 36½ years, Marilyn Gail Langhurst Mullis; two daughters, Jennifer Pettigrew of Purlear, and Maggie Myers of Elkin; two sons, William Dale Mullis, and Benjamin Mullis both of Roaring River; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Couch, and Virginia Mullis both of Hamptonville; and two brothers, Joe Mullis of Yadkinville, and Gray Mullis of Hamptonville.

 A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, at the Mullis Family Cemetery with the Rev. Monroe Otto and the Rev. Clint Branch officiating.
