Registration days for Starmount Middle football

Sign-ups for Starmount Middle School Sertoma Football will be held on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14 from 1-4 p.m. at the field house at Starmount High.

Any player who has not played Sertoma before will need to bring a copy of their birth certificate to registration. A fee of $75 is required, which will include insurance that is necessary to play.

Another round of registrations will be held Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June at the same times and location. For more information, contact Donnie Martin at 835-7294.


Yadkin Stingrays registering swimmers for summer season

The Yadkin Stingrays will have summer swim team sign-ups from May 18 through June 11 from 5-7 p.m. at the Yadkin County pool (behind the YMCA on Service Road).

The team is open to school-aged kids 18-and-younger. If you're 10-and-under, you must be able to swim at least one lap of the pool. If you're between 11-18, you must be able to swim at least two laps.

The cost is $50 per child ($45 for each additional sibling in a family). There will be a Swim Gear representative at the pool on May 28 at 5 p.m. for swim suit orders.

Future Falcons basketball camp open to boys, girls

The 2009 edition of the Future Falcons Basketball Camp for girls and boys will be held June 22-24 at Forbush High School.

Sessions for rising second- through fifth-graders will be from 8-11 a.m. The cost is $60.

Sessions for rising sixth- through ninth-graders will be from noon until 3 p.m. The cost is $70.

Starmount holding summer boys hoops camp June 22-25

The 2009 Starmount boys basketball camp will be held June 22-25 (Monday through Thursday).

The morning session for rising second- through fifth-graders will be from 9 a.m. until noon. The afternoon session for rising sixth- through ninth-graders will be from 1-4 p.m.

The cost is $50 for one child, $75 for two. The deadline to pre-register is June 15.

Any rising eighth- or ninth-graders in the Forbush district who are interested in attending basketball team camp at UNCG with the high school team should contact coach Ashley Clonch.

Climb the Elkin tennis ladder this summer

The Elkin Tennis Ladder will run all summer long.

The program is free and will be played on the Elkin Municipal Park courts. Enter at anytime.

Physicals coming for Starmount High student-athletes

Starmount High School will be having their physicals given on Tuesday, June 30 at 8:30 a.m. at Jonesville Family Medical Center. The cost is $10. Prospective athletes must have a physical form signed by a parent in order for the staff to give the physical.

Forms may be picked up at Starmount High in the office and will be available the morning of the physicals if a parent can attend to sign the form.
