Giles William “Bill” Reavis, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 5, 2009.

He was born on March 30, 1933 in Yadkin County to Turner Washington and Elva Louisa Reavis.

Bill loved to play golf and work with wood.

He also enjoyed spending time tending to his garden. He was a beloved grandfather, who doted on his grandchildren.

 Bill was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph M. Reavis, Howard L. Reavis, and Parks Reavis.

He is survived by three children, Sherry R. (Paul) Eaton, Lain (Kym) Reavis, and Beth R. (Jason) Hughes; five grandchildren, Bryce Spence, Alex and Hannah Hughes, and Haley and Turner Reavis; five siblings, Pauline R. Harpe, Mildred R. (Pete) Phillips, Leo (Mary Catherine) Reavis, Peggy R. (Eldon) Wishon, and Carolyn R. Bray; and his former wife and special friend, Rosa Lee Chamberlain.

 A funeral service for Bill was held on Monday, June 8, at The Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel with Brother Robert Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.

The family received friends on Sunday, June 7, at the Reynolda Road Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bill’s name to the Heart Failure Clinic, c/o Forsyth Medical Center Foundation, 3333 Silas Creek Pkwy., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Hospice & Palliative Care Center Donations, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
