The photo of Surry Community College pitcher Jordan Jessup that will appear on the cover of Reebok’s 2010 spring uniforms catalog came from the camera of an East Bend photographer.
Veda Norman took the shot of Jessup during a Surry Knights game in 2008. It was selected as the cover photo for what will be a 70,000-unit press run highlighting Reebok’s baseball, softball, lacrosse and track-and-field apparel.
Norman served as Surry’s team photographer in 2008 and 2009 while her son, Corey, pitched for the Knights. In addition to taking action shots at games for various media, she also compiled the team’s annual baseball media guide.
Interestingly, Norman said she had no idea that her photo was selected for the Reebok catalog cover until reading a Mount Airy News story about it this week.
Norman, the vice president of administration for Dorsett Technologies, has her own freelance photography business called Strike Three Photography (www.strikethree photography).
Her work has appeared in numerous editions of The Yadkin Ripple and Tribune newspapers over the years. Corey Norman is a 2007 graduate of Forbush High School.
While Jessup will pitch at Appalachian State University this coming season, Corey Norman will move on to pitch at Catawba. Both were teammates this summer with the Kernersville Bulldogs collegiate wood bat team.
