She was born July 13, 1923 in Yadkin County to the late William Miles and Leona Pendry Gentry.
Mrs. Williams was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and “Granny” to her family, enjoyed spending time with them, and periodically opened her home to her extended family for family reunions and holiday “get-togethers”.
She was a great cook and was well known for her homemade yeast rolls and coconut cake.
She worked for several years with her husband, James Hugh Williams, at Williams and Gentry Grocery and Meat Processing in Yadkinville.
She was a member of Pilot View Friends Meeting, and served the church as a Sunday school teacher for the kindergarten class for over 40 years.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Iva G. Helton and Ruth G. Mickle; and by her brothers, George Gentry and Lester Gentry.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 64 years, James Hugh Williams of the home; her daughters, Delores (David) Mabe of Yadkinville, Wanda (Charlie) Brintle of Yadkinville, and Janet (Jerry) Anderson of Pilot Mountain; grandchildren, Jeremy (Krista) Willard, Matthew Mabe, Jacob Brintle, Katie Brintle, Maggie Brintle, James Clayton Anderson, and Joshua David Anderson; great-grandchildren, Weston and Spencer Willard; sisters, Bernice G. Norman of Yadkinville, and Wilma G. Casstevens of Hartsville S.C.; and a brother, Frank (Barbara) Gentry of Yadkinville.
The family received friends Monday, Aug. 31, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
Her funeral service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Pilot View Friends Meeting by the Rev. Nelson Puffenbarger and Tim Vestal.
She lay in state for 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
