The Grand National Cross Country Series will come to Yadkinville for the fifth year with two days of races May 8-9.

Thousands of racers and fans are expected. The ATVs will race on May 8, with the bikes competing May 9.

Amateur and pro riders will tackle muddy creeks, tight woods and steep hills for one, two and three hours. The cost for admission is $15 for the whole weekend.

First Baptist Church of Yadkinville holds golf tournament

First Baptist Church of Yadkinville will hold a benefit golf tournament for the Children and Youth Ministries of First Baptist Church of Yadkinville on April 24 at 1 p.m. at Yadkin Country Club.

The Entry fee is $200 per team. Top two teams will earn $400 and $200, respectively (10 team minimum).

Prizes will be given for closest to the pin, longest drive and door prizes will be given. Pre-register until April 19. Register by 12:30 p.m. day of tournament. Contact Perry Snow or Jeff Collins at (336) 679-2287 for more information.

Swim team sign-ups in Elkin

The Elkin Wet Lightning swim team will hold a kickoff meeting on Thursday, May 6 from 3-6 p.m. at the gym.

Swim team registration will begin May 1 and run through June 6. The team is for boys and girls ages 5-18.

Mountain High Running Camp

The annual Mountain High Running Camp in Mars Hill will be held July 12-17.

The middle and high school camp features great trails, free running shoes and a staff of elite U.S. and Kenyan runners and coaches.
