Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew C. Phillips on Dec. 3, 1989.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Ashburn and John Lee (Rachel) Phillips; her grandchildren, Hal Ashburn, Jill Ashburn, Lee Phillips, Dawn Phillips; brothers, Raymond and John G. Atkins; sisters, Vallie Marsh and Lilly Morris; and many loved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Friday July 9, 2010, at Baltimore United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Catherine Vlastakis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Opal Phillips to either, Baltimore United Methodist Church New Building Fund, 2419 Baltimore Road, East Bend, NC 27018 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, P.O. Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
