New officers and board members have been elected for the Yadkin Valley United Fund beginning June 1, according to David Steelman, executive director.
Officers include Susan Stewart (Parkwood Eye Center), president; Don Clark (Century 21), vice president; Frankie Pardue (First National Bank), treasurer; Barry Cleary (Weyerhaeuser), past president; and Laura Oakes (HCMH), president-elect.
The directors will be Ann Ashman (Retired Life Store), Nathan Lewis (PVH), Ron Jester (Retired YB), Holly Lamm (The Tribune), Leon Baskerville (Belk), Phyllis Harris (Harris Leather), Kathy Poteate (HCMH), Casey Morrison ( Elkin City Schools), Bill Johnson (Surrey Bank), Natalie Eidson (G&B Energy), Anita Darnell (Quality Inn), Karen Defreitas (Slighty Askew) and John Wiles (IntegraMed).
The YVUF serves the communities of Arlington, Elkin, Jonesville, Mountain Park, Ronda, State Road, Thurmond and Traphill by providing funding for 25 local non-profit partner agencies as well as three scholarships, one each to a senior at East Wilkes, Elkin and Starmount high schools.
The 2018 funding drive will be from Aug. 15 through Nov. 15, with the annual “Dine Out” Aug. 18-27, G&B Energy golf tournament on Sept. 7, and the new “Wine Out” on Sept. 17. Announcement of the 2018 goal will be made in late June.

Yadkin Valley citizens who work out of the Yadkin Valley area and have access to payroll deduction can designate their contributions to the Yadkin Valley United Fund.
