New music festival this weekend

WILKESBORO — The Carolina Jam Music Festival will kick off Friday at 6 p.m. with a free concert featuring Jim Quick and Coastline from 7 to 10 p.m. in historic downtown Wilkesboro. The weekend festival will continue from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Edge Entertainment, in partnership with the town of Wilkesboro and the Wilkesboro Tourism Development Authority, are hosting the event where the beach meets the mountains. The Carolina Jam Music Festival is taking place at the newly renovated Carolina West Wireless Community Commons both days.

On Saturday, the music will kick off at 11 a.m. featuring Band of Oz, The Embers with Craig Woolard, Southern Trouble, Silk Groove and North Tower. Genres will include Motown, country, party band and beach music.

Festival attendees and the general public will have access to food and artisan vendor areas to explore a variety of food truck offerings and shop for handcrafted items made by members of the Wilkesboro Open Air Market. Locally-produced wine and craft and domestic beer will be available for purchase within the festival grounds. Tastings of local distilled spirits will be offered by Call Family and Copper Barrel distilleries.

Outside coolers, alcohol or food will not be allowed in the community commons.

Advance tickets are available for purchase at Wilkesboro Town Hall, Oakwoods Grocery, from Brushy Mountain Shag Club members, online at and on site at the free Friday night concert.
