HAMPTONVILLE — One patient was transported via AirCare and another by ground to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on Wednesday following a single-car collision in the 1900 block of Swan Creek Road.
The call was dispatched about 3:35 p.m., with a reported entrapment on the scene. A landing zone for the AirCare unit was set up at Swan Creek and Weaver roads.
North Carolina Highway Patrol Sgt. E.C. Roten said the wreck involved a black Mitsubishi being driven by Rustyn Barber of Jonesville. Barber was traveling south when his vehicle ran off the road to the right colliding with a fence, then went airborne colliding with a tree and then a creek embankment.
Yadkin County Emergency Services Director Keith Vestal confirmed that two patients, Barber and his passenger, Brandon Brooks, were pinned into a vehicle. They were extricated and both taken to the hospital for treatment, Vestal said.
Barber was airlifted and Brooks was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
Roten said speed was likely a factor in the accident.
No word was available at the time of this article on the condition of the patients.
