East Bend Public Library’s annual yard sale on Sept. 21 and 22 was a great success, organizers with the East Bend Friends of the Library reported.
The group raised a little more than $3,800, which will go toward books, programming and general upkeep of the library.
Jan Hicks of the Friends committee said next year they plan to call the sale the Great Stuff Sale as so many shoppers commented on what great stuff was available for purchase.
Lori Lashmit added a special thanks to all of the donors, volunteers and the shoppers who endured the heat and a few who even came to both days of the sale. Many people also rounded up their purchases to provide an additional donation to the library. There were several donations of cash including a wooden keg with $300 worth of pennies inside.
Some items not sold were donated to Solus Christus as well as Goodwill.
“All of your things benefited folks in the community as well as supporting the library. We look forward to seeing all of you at next year’s event,” said Hicks.
