The Children’s Center is sponsoring a new group, Circle of Parents, which began on Jan. 30. The group meets weekly on Mondays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Maplewood Baptist Church. Circle of Parents is a parent-led self-help group where parents can share ideas, celebrate successes and address challenges surrounding parenting.
The new group is being formed for parents and other caregivers that have been impacted by domestic violence. Circle of Parents is an evidence-based, national program that was launched in West Virginia in 2012. The groups are free, confidential and focus on positive parenting practices. Each group is led by a trained facilitator and a parent leader from the community.
The mission of the Children’s Center of Surry, Inc. is to provide child maltreatment prevention and intervention services to children and families in Northwest North Carolina.
