JONESVILLE — Riverfront property has many advantages, especially for those of an entrepreneurial nature, however for individuals attached to both Elkin and Jonesville, Yadkin River property can be a community benefit.

For Hometown River Company owners Amanda and Kasius Stanley, it started with a bus. “We had the property and we knew we wanted to do something with it, but when we got the bus, it all just seemed to come together,” said Kasius, who has not only been spending his efforts preparing the property at 474 N. Bridge St. in Jonesville, but attending meetings and activities throughout Jonesville and Elkin in an effort to encourage the sense of community that makes a business like HRC thrive.

Opening their doors Memorial Day weekend, HRC has been busy for a new business and hopes to continue its success as people get to know it through such events at the Explore Elkin Family Flotilla. “It’s good exposure for the business,” explained Amanda, whose love of the area is obvious.

“It will bring awareness to the Yadkin River, not just to how beautiful it is, but how important that it is for us to take care of it,” said Amanda, who with Kasius has worked hard to improve the conditions of the property on the Jonesville side of where the Hugh Chatham Bridge once stood near the Jonesville Greenway.

This location has been important to the active family who is visibly excited about the continued improvements not only on local parks and paths, but the variety of community events such as the Flotilla. “Something that size is special for the area not just the outfitters,” said Kasius. When not shuttling clients to access points on the Yadkin, he can be found with Amanda and their children, Bailey and Olivia, enjoying the variety of activities throughout Elkin and Jonesville.

Hometown River Company offers seven- or 11-mile self-guided excursions by kayak or tube every day of the week until 6:30 p.m. and has activities available for those who prefer to wait on land. For more information, call 336-404-1616 or go to hometownrivercompany.com.
