Commissioners to attend conference in July

Staff Report

A public hearing took place at Monday’s meeting of the Yadkin County commissioners in regard to the rezoning of a property at 2545 Hoots Road, requested to be rezoned from Highway Business to Rural Agricultural. The request was approved.

Also approved by the board at Monday’s meeting was an entry-level salary increase for an EMS paramedic lieutenant position. The increase was recommended due to the experience level of the candidate for the job.

A budget amendment appropriating Fund Balance for Adoption Incentive was approved. The Yadkin County Human Services Agency received Adoption Incentive funds late in June that are to be used to promote the adoption of children. Since the fiscal year ended June 30, Human Services could not spend the funds in fiscal year 2017 so they rolled into fund balance. The budget amendment was to re-appropriate the unspent 2016-17 funding so it could be spent in 2017-18.

A budget amendment for vehicle replacements also was approved by the board.

Members of the Yadkin County Board of Commissioners will attend the National Association of County Officials conference in Columbus, Ohio, July 21-24. Board members also will represent Yadkin County at the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners annual conference in Durham next month.

The next meeting of the Yadkin County Board of Commissioners will be at 9 a.m. on Aug. 7.
