Tom Kilby, executive director for Yadkin County United Fund, announced that the Yadkin County United Fund continues its campaign to reach the goal of $180,000. Kilby and Monta Davis-Oliver, president of the Board of Directors, stated that the campaign has reached 60 percent of what is needed to adequately fund requests from partner agencies.
Those partner agencies include Boonville Community Library, Boy Scouts of America, Cancer Services, Children’s Center of Yadkin, East Bend Public Library, Hands of Hope Medical Clinic, Grace Clinic, Jonesville Public Library, Mountain Valley Hospice, NetWorX, Share-A-Home, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, The ARK, The Salvation Army, Yadkin Christian Ministries, Yadkin County 4-H clubs, Yadkin County Rescue Squad, Yadkin Family Domestic Violence, Yadkin Family YMCA, Yadkin Special Olympics and Yadkin County Senior Services.
Contributions directly affect the level of support to these agencies, and when donations are down, some services may not be available when needed. Kilby also stated that local contributions have been negatively affected by the recent hurricane disasters.
Kilby reported that employees of Phillips-Van Heusen, Yadkin County Schools and YADTEL are the largest donors. Some businesses also make corporate match donations to honor their employees. Any contribution to this year’s campaign of more than $100 will receive a copy of a print donated by local artist Sharon Grubbs.
In addition to the year-round campaign, the YCUF also raises money through fundraisers. A Lucky Bingo night was held on March 17, and a spaghetti meal is being planned for later this spring.
Davis-Oliver said, “Every single person in Yadkin County knows someone — family member, neighbor, friend, or acquaintance — directly served by one or more of the programs supported by the Yadkin County United Fund. Won’t you consider making a contribution today?”
Tax-deductible donations may be mailed to Yadkin County United Fund, P.O. Box 1608, Yadkinville, NC 27055, or given online at yadkincountyunitedfund.org. Tom Kilby may be reached at 336-679-4462.
