Suspect caught on camera in Boonville break-ins

Staff Report

BOONVILLE — A Boonville resident captured images on a security camera of an unknown person entering his vehicles in the early morning hours of June 19. Several vehicles in the town were targeted and police are investigating.

Boonville Police Officer Bryan Rutledge said due to the ongoing investigation by multiple officers and agencies there are few details being released at this time. However, he did say that 23 reports were taken regarding the vehicle break-ins as well as several others who did not wish to file a report.

Two guns and a laptop computer were reported stolen as well as some other small items. Rutledge said the incident did appear to be similar to a string of vehicle break-ins that occurred in February of this year. As yet it is unknown if the incidents are connected.

“The Boonville Police Department recommends to everyone in Boonville to remove all valuables from their vehicle and keep the doors locked at all times. Another major and inexpensive but very effective way to help provide security around your home is to install motion detecting floodlights,” Rutledge said.

“We also encourage anyone who sees anything suspicious to call 911. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Boonville Police Department at 336-367-7828,” he added.
