EAST BEND — The Forbush Falcons volleyball team continued its dominating season with a win over Walkertown last week. Forbush swept Walkertown, 3-0.

The first set saw Forbush take a 25-5 win; the second set, they won 25-25; and the final set, the Falcons cruised to a 25-10 win. With the win, the Falcons are undefeated in the Western Piedmont Athletic Conference with a record of 5-0.

Forbush came out strong in the first set and never looked back. Camryn Doub started things off with a kill to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Colby Crater put down a kill for a 3-0 lead, then Cathryn Prim knocked down a kill for a 4-0 lead. Crater was able to record another kill off of a switch hit to score Forbush’s fifth unanswered point of the first set.

Walkertown was able to stop the Falcons’ rally as Forbush missed a serve and the Wolfpack cut Forbush’s lead to four points. Although Walkertown stopped the first rally, the Falcons were able to get the ball back and continue on for their second rally of the night. Parkely Hennings had a back-row kill to put Forbush up 7-1 over the Wolfpack.

Laiken Baity recorded an ace from behind the line, and Crater knocked down another kill from the middle for a 10-1 set. The Falcons kept up their tempo as Crater, Hennings and Doub had kills on the front row. Sommer Gray had three aces for the Falcons, which gave Forbush a 25-5 win in the first set.

Thing continued on in Forbush’s favor heading into the second set of the night. Walkertown was able to stick with Forbush for the first three points, but the Falcons were able to pull away to record the win. Doub and Hennings put up a block on the left side, which gave Forbush a 3-2 lead. Salem Finney was able to put up a block on the next play to give the Falcons a two-point lead.

Forbush kept up its tempo in the second set as senior, Sarah Hutchens, came off the bench and put down two kills. Nikita Sizemore and Ebony Williams had digs on the back row that kept the ball from hitting the court. The digs were able to find the hands of Maggie Moncus and Baity, who would set the ball up for a Falcons kill. Forbush put down a 25-25 win in the second set to move to 2-0 on the night.

The final set was all about the Falcons once again. Ansley Reid recorded three kills on the front row as she was able to find the holes in the Walkertown defense. Hannah Shore and Riley Warfel also came out with digs and kills for the Falcons in the third set. Hutchens and Crater recorded a block to give the Falcons a 16-4 lead, and from there the set was all about the red and blue. Forbush was able to knock down the final points of the set to take a 25-10 lead.

The win in the third set completed the 3-0 sweep for the Falcons. With the win, Forbush moves to 5-0 in the WPAC and 10-4 overall. The Falcons host Carver on Thursday afternoon. On Monday, Forbush will host Starmount in East Bend.
