SILER CITY — Out of 16 teams, Elkin’s NC Punishers came out undefeated as the No. 1 seed and Gold bracket champions. The girls had an impressive five ERA, and 23 ER for the weekend.

“I credit the girls success to their hard work, determination, and grueling conditioning in the off-season,” said coach Steve Shaw. “We had stellar pitching by Baylee Childress and Chloe Andrews. Both pitching shutouts were in the pouring rain. Our catchers, Samantha Johnson and Kali Cook, both caught in 90-plus degree heat and humidity. The teams bats were good across the board.”
