Forbush golf earn important wins

EAST BEND — The Forbush High School men’s golf team has had a successful 2017 season. The team faced off against the defending state champions, Wilkes Central, last week and the Falcons came away with a big win. During the same match, Forbush also beat the state runner-up, South Stokes.

In one of the Western Piedmont 2A matches, the Falcons held on to a 309 total while South Stokes had 319. Logan Lineberry shot a 71, Mich Cranfill and Carson Davis each shot 78, while Carson Snyder shot 83, Sinjun Southard shot 85, and Cole Hinkle along with Corey Williams both shot a 105.

In the match versus Wilkes Central and South Stokes, the Falcons came away with a 152 total beating Wilkes Central by eight strokes. In this match Lineberry shot a 35, Cranfill 38, Snyder 39, Southard 40, Davis 40, Hinkle 43, and Williams 46.

In a conference match with West Stokes, South Stokes, and Surry Central the Falcons tied with the Sauras as each team shot a 156. Lineberry shot a 37, Cranfill 39, Davis 40, Snyder 40, Hinkle 42, and Southard 43.
